First to fight was Conor Webb who won 2 fights to achieve gold. Next up was Little Soph who had a straight final and got silver after a draw and it going to the referee’s decision. Then there was Elliot James who got bronze after a hard fight. Simone Choong won gold after a straight final as did Jonnie the Dodger. Biggen also got gold after winning 2 fights and almost being bitten by a weird French lady.Andy ‘Gizza’ Higson won silver after a draw in the straight final and it went to an extra round. Mark Little and Neil ‘Dad’ Simnett fought in the same category, Mark got bronze medal and Neil got gold after beating Mark’s opponent in the final. In total BKA brought home 5 golds, 2 silvers and 2 bronzes.
Congratulations to all the team who did BKA proud and conducted themselves impeccably, the hard work paid off. It couldn’t have been done without the help of Chris with all the hard work and time he puts into the club and support he has for his fighters and club members. Also a thank you goes to the family and friends who came to Germany to watch and support and to Mrs Nutty for running the club in England while the team were away, her support was greatly missed. She is an inspiration to us all.
After a hard days work the team took a trip to the German Christmas market and hard a well earned drink in the bar. Oh and we also met santa. And a Chinese guy. And lots of strangers. Read more from our news letter

BKA warriors fight at WKA Full contact event.
Members of the BKA recently fought at a WKA full contact event at the Whitby Sports and Social Club.
Jonnie Squirrell was first up in his first full contact junior title fight against Sam Babb. Both warriors fought well but Jonnies determination and kickboxing skills secured his win.
Sophie Barnett's opponent came out in the fist round strong and determined. Sophie came back in the second and third round and displayed exemplary kickboxing skills winning both rounds and giving her a majority win.
Sophie Simnett won her full contact bout. Sophie's skill and power against her opponent meant that she won with a technical knockout in the second round.
Alan Hall fought Steve Babb for the English Amateur Light Heavyweight Title. Both fighters fought with determination. Alan displayed excellent kickboxing skills but was disappointingly given a draw.
For the English Amateur Light Heavyweight Title
BLCC English Champion Sophie Barnett
BKA's- Sophie Barnett has fought her way to an English Kickboxing Title with a hard fought victory over a very talanted opponent.
16year-old Sophie Barnett from Horninglow has been crowned the British Light Continuous Council (BLCC) English Champion in the Junior Girls 55-60kg category.
She beat Gemma Baker, 17, from Weston Super-Mare on a unanimous points decision after a five round bout in Derby. The bout was scored 48-46, 50-46 and 48-46 by the three judges at ring side, and came against a teenager who has previously fought at international level.
Sophie has added the newly inaugurated BLCC English Belt to the prestigious ISKA European Title she also holds. Well done Sophie you trained every day for months ahead of this fight and you did your club proud.
BKA's Jonnie 'The Dodger' Squirrell wins WKA English Title. October 2009
The WKA Title was contested between Jonnie 'The Dodger' Squirrell (BKA) Vs Brandon Hargreeves (Fit to fight). Boys 10-12yrs -35kg fought over 5x1min rounds in Accrinton.
The fight was an excellent display of kickboxing with both fighters showing great skill and deterination.
Jonnie fought with great composure and maturity beyond his years winning a unanimous points win. Its always hard to fight someone when they have home advantage and lots of support which created a hostile atmosphere, but this was to be Jonnie's day. Well done Jonnie Squirrell you did your club proud.

WAKO'S 2009 BRITISH CHAMPIONSHIPS
On the 21st February 2009 Burton-kickboxing-academy took on the "creme da la creme" that WAKO'S could offer. A last minute change of tatic's and category saw our own Sophie Simnett compete in the ladies -60kg category. Sophie fought superbly dominating the opposition who were outworked and outclassed in her opening bout's. Her reward for her hard work was a place in the 2009 grand final. Unfortunately this was not to be our day, Sophie losing to the better girl in the judges eye's and finishing overall in Silver medal postion. Sophie showed true heart and desire that all Burton-kickboxing-academy fighter and student alike would be proud of. Proud to be your coach and have you with us well done Sophie. P.S we will have our REVENGE next year.
Sophie Barnett is no stranger to the WAKO British Championships succsessfully competing in Naples last year as part of the WAKO British Team. This year however saw Sophie competing for the first time in the Junior Adult Section, Sophie just turning 16 in February found the going tough, fighting much older, heavier and stronger opposition. Despite this still achieving Bronze medal position for her club. With her never say die attitude and with all the odds stacked against her Sophie"THE PSYCHO" Barnett did herself and her club proud ,well done Sophie.
