Our kids classes are conveniently located in the heart of Burton on Trent city centre and we have chosen the most appropriate class times for the parents. All of our kids classes are great fun where we try to make sure that together with the physical exercises children experience communication, fun and sense of importance.
BKA kids classes are split into 2 age groups: 4-8 Year olds and over 8. Usually we have a couple of trainers present on every session with our head Coach Chris Squirrell leading the action.

Why classes for kids are beneficial?
We teach your kids the techniques to defend themselves, but also the way to think about defending – anticipate and avoid potential dangers. Kickboxing Training also helps build up the reflexes your kid needs if they’re ever in a dangerous situation, and give the confidence to stand up for themselves and fight back if needed – which brings us to our next topic…
As children become more proficient in kickboxing, their confidence gets a big-boost. They become more self-assured and confident. Their coach’s encouragement goes a long way to help them achieve this goal, but the confidence level will extend far beyond the Academy and will drastically help them later on in life. Be it school, college or job.
Belts are a public recognition among peers for the student’s effort and progress. Kickboxing ranking system helps children to set goals and achieve them, to persevere and prioritise and get feedback on their performance what is invaluable skill in life. Who wouldn’t want to say that they have a “black belt”? Check out our grading page for more details.
BKA’s kids class is all about “practice makes perfect”. In a class your kid will execute a single movement or series of related movements, hundreds of times. This teaches kids that the progress always happens during small improvements in technique and stamina, flexibility or power – is achieved with endless repetition. The mindset however can go a long way and as most of the skills we are teaching will help them later on in life.
I am sure that while many parents would consider kickboxing for their sons, not nearly as many would consider it for their daughters. Kickboxing is one of the few sports where both boys and girls can play together and learn to respect each other! We are proud of our girl fighters and their achievements. We encourage kids to respect and help each other.
Childhood obesity is a global epidemic and UK is not an exempt from this statement. Regular exercises are crucial for kids and teens to make sure their exercise habit will get strong and follow them around. We only think that we control our daily lives but in reality 90% of what we do, eat are habits. There is a lot of research stating that exercise habit triggers healthy eating. Your kids will unconsciously make right choices when it will come to eating.
How about doing it with them?
You can practice with each other at home! This will give you an activity to use as a bonding tool with your kids. You can also become fit together and motivate one another to progress and never give up. What usually, from our experience – helps parents even more then their kids 🙂 .
Ah, and I almost forgot, we do the most for the kids, but don’t forget their hard working parents – you can have tea or coffee while spectating your precious.. 🙂
